Amanda & Alex’s Sonesta Resort Wedding down in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, kicked off my 2019 wedding season and following in 2018’s tracks, we were modifying the days’ timeline up to the very last minute thanks to Mother Nature and her urge to drop buckets of water from the sky! But we all became meteorologists and adjusted things around the radar and hourly forecasts, and everything turned out just the way they wanted, and then some!

The Sonesta Resort was a beautiful venue down in Hilton Head, and it allowed Amanda and Alex to walk right over the dune to their ceremony site on the beach. If you remember their engagement photos we did last year (check them out HERE) you will know these two LOVE the beach, so this place was literally made for them! They initially opted out of doing a first look, but after evaluating the weather forecast as they were getting ready, it looked as though we only had a small window between thunderstorms. I knew getting married with the sand beneath them was what these two had their hearts set on, and since trying to push the ceremony time up was out of the question I opted for them to do a first look to ensure they had some photos on the beach. They agreed, we went for it, and cue the tears because it was such a special moment between the two of them even I had a hard time keeping it together! And would you know it, after just a short time of taking pictures on the beach, the raindrops started to fall and everyone started running for the pavilion.

Mother Nature must have felt sorry for us though, because right before the official ceremony start time, the storm pushed right out to sea and the guests took their places in the sand. With their groomsmen in navy blue and bridesmaids sporting Pantone’s color of the year coral, Amanda & Alex had the beach wedding that they wished for! All of the worrying swept out with the storm and they partied the night away surrounded by their closest family and friends!
